Inter Hannover has been doing business in Australia since 2005. Our Australian Branch office in Sydney was opened in 2008 as a result of changes to the insurance regulatory environment and is authorised by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).
The Australian Branch is capitalised in Australia in accordance with the Minimum Capital Requirements imposed by APRA. For more information about APRA, please follow the link on the right of your screen.
The Australian Branch also enjoys Inter Hannover's 'A' rating; in detail AA- ("Very Strong") S&P and A ("Excellent") A.M. Best.
The territorial scope of the Australian Branch comprises Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian Branch is actively seeking to develop Agency business in Australia since it continues to be an important market for Inter Hannover, and we have a dedicated Agency Manager, Mark Fleiser.
Our approach is the same worldwide namely:
- Seek to support specialist Agencies who have a niche insurance offering, who value long-term partnerships and have their own infrastructure to service their business needs
- Clearly define underwriting authority for each Agency to avoid competition between Inter Hannover Agencies
- Open to new ideas, lines of business, distribution channels, territories & markets
- Do not seek to compete with our Agencies throughout the Hannover Re Group
- Provide AA- rated security
Our Australian Branch is the first point of call for all Australian and New Zealand business enquiries. We liaise closely with Inter Hannover UK and Hannover Re underwriters worldwide who have vast expertise and experience in many classes of insurance business and assist the Australian Branch with development of business opportunities.
The Australian Branch currently underwrites through a number of Agencies various classes of business including general liability, professional indemnity, personal accident, and jewellers block.
